Sjoerd Martens (bio)

Sjoerd Martens (b. 1993, Nijmegen, The Netherlands) lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied Image and Media Technology at University of the Arts Utrecht in The Netherlands. From his ongoing photographic archaeological research into artifacts in our surroundings, comes an urge to immortalize these through multidisciplinarity and atypical narrative techniques. This way they can be experienced differently and infinitely, and are no longer taken for granted.

Exhibited at i.a. Marina Abramović Institute + T, Photography Museum FOAM, Les Rencontres de la photographie Arles, Patty Morgan, Melkweg Amsterdam, Centro de las Artes and Czong Institute for Contemporary Art.
